Despite there being numerous unfinished new developments in Estepona and many that were halted due to illegal planning permission, the Estepona town hall has seen fit to allow one of the last green zones to be built on.

The area in question is what is known locally as the ‘secret beach’ or El Cristo Beach as it is officially known.

The town hall is run by the Party de Popular and they gave permission to allow construction of a beach club and restaurant which will cover 1,250 m2 of this beautiful and until now, unspoiled beach.

Many local residents and even the former mayor and up in arms about the decision as it will effectively destroy one of the Costa del Sol’s last remaining green zones.
