Manilva is just inland from the coastal town of Sabinillas (a town that has practically been reformed), located about 15 to 20 minutes west of Estepona.

The village of Manilva is surrounded by countryside and contains many vineyards that grow in the slopes around the village.

The most prominent point of the village, like many Spanish villages, is the stunnning church which forms the mian focal point of the village. It’s architecture is magnificent and brings in tourists to the town from other parts of Andalucia.

As with many of these small villages in the hills of Andalucia, there is much history associated with them, although some remains around Manilva go back to prehistoric times, the majority date back to the Roman times and then the Moors.

Within Mailva centre it has transformed into a thriving little town where you will find numerous shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. It is a popular area for property buyers that only want to be a very short drive to the coast but still have the feeling of being in a small mountain village. For these reasons it is a very sought after area in which to buy property.

The area of Manilva really incorporates the main village itself, the coastal resort of Sabinillas (2 kms from the village) and a tiny fishing village called Castillo de la Duquesa.

Although Manilva is still in the province of Malaga, it is it’s most westerly point before you enter the province of Cadiz.

There is a large expat community around the Manilva area and there is a lot of development being carried out, which includes a new underpass by Sabinillas and access to and from the AP7 toll raod.

What airports are near Manilva?

It is actually easier to get to Manilva from Gibraltar Airport and although there are more flights than previously, they are only from certain UK airports meaning it is not the best choice for everyone. With this in mind most people still opt for using Malaga Airport, which is about 1 hour 15 minutes away.
