casares

Casares is located on the Costa del Sol as you head west from Estepona towards Duquesa (a popular tourist spot for expats). As you head down the A7 you will arrive at a roundabout by Casares Playa, at which point, if you wish to head up into the famous white village of Casares, you would exit here and head up the hill.

About 10 years ago Casares was considered the new area of the Costa del Sol in which to buy property. There were a number of brand new developments built all along the main access road to the village. These developments were on both sides of the road and included sought after urbanisations like Casares Golf Gardens.

As you head further up the hill you will see the entrance to one of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol, Finca Cortesin. This is a fantastic place to visit with its Spa and top class restaurants. In fact people from all over the country come here to play golf.

Like any popular golf course there are also a number of luxury properties built around it with views out across the fairways.

As you head even further up the hill it eventually levels out and you will see the white village of Casares beneath you. It is made up of narrow winding roads and houses displaying colourful plant pots in a typical Andalucian way.

It is clear to see why people still flock to Casares and why it is also still so popular with property buyers.

Being such a diverse area there are many different types of property, from standalone fincas and cortijos to luxury detached villas, from frontline golf apartments to townhouses with magnificent sea views. There is even a new development still being completed which has its own lagoon where you can relax or even do a range of watersports.

So what do you need to consider if you are looking for a property in Casares?

Location is the key. Some people are more than happy to live the village life and even though it is only about a 15 minute drive down to the coast, you can still feel slightly cut off up in the village. If you want easy access to other parts of the Costa del Sol and want to be close to the village but not in it, some of the developments on the way up could be ideal.

Many of these developments have a choice of pools, some have indoor pools as well and gymnasiums. You need to decide what facilities are important to you and then you will be closer to deciding which area of Casares to look.

Some tips on deciding on the property type in Casares:

  1. Do you need access to other resorts on the Costa del Sol daily?
  2. Do you want to be within easy reach of the beach?
  3. Are you looking for a private dwelling or don’t mind being part of a community?
  4. Do you want traditional or modern?
  5. What type of facilities do you want? (gym etc)
  6. Do you want golf and sea views or mountain?
