Marbella Holiday Information Guide

For those of you that do not already know much about the holiday resort of Marbella then the following will give you a brief overview as to why so many people, from all over the world, flock to this part of the Costa del Sol for their holidays and short break.

Situated about 45 minutes from Malaga Airport and 50 minutes from Gibraltar Airport, the holiday resort of Marbella has been a first choice destination for people looking for a holiday on the Costa del Sol. Marbella is more than just a town or a holiday resort, it is now almost an entire district made up of many smaller holiday resorts spanning the entire Marbella coastline.

Marbella Holiday Resorts

Starting at the most easterly point the resort of Cabopino is the first place you will come across, if heading away from the Malaga Airport direction. It is about 12 km from the centre of Marbella and just 14 km from the holiday resort of Fuengirola. There are some stunning beaches and a port area that is home to some of the finest restaurants of the area.

Further west you will come across the newer Marbella holiday resort of Elviria. Here you will find a busy commercial centre, fantastic beaches and the famous Hotel Don Carlos which is now home to the luxury beach club and celebrity hang out Nikki Beach Marbella (see here for information on Celebrities in Marbella).

As you head towards central Marbella you will continue to pass some more popular holiday resorts such as El Rosario and Los Monteros until you reach central Marbella.

The main town of Marbella is full of things to do. Not only does it have many km’s of golden sandy beaches it has numerous shops, bars and amazing restaurants from traditional Spanish to most international cuisines.

There are two main parts to Marbella, the main holiday resort which runs along the coast and the old town Marbella which is full of winding cobbled streets and white washed houses. Here you will find lots of small boutiques and restaurants that are very popular with both holiday makers and locals alike.

Just outside of the centre of Marbella is the lively resort of Puerto Banus where many people head for shopping and late night partying.
