The Costa de la Luz has become a very popular holiday destination in Spain with its pure sandy beaches and rugged coastline. It is popular with many different types of holiday makers. From those looking for some of the best windsurfing and kite-surfing in Spain to those who want a quieter more peaceful part of Spain to explore and enjoy.

Being on the Atlantic coast there are windier conditions on the the Costa de la Luz. This makes it a haven for water sport enthusiasts such as windsurfers, kite-surfers and wave-surfers. It is the most spectacular scene sitting on the powedry sandy beach and trying to count the number of kites tossing around in the wind pulling the kite surfers along at tremendous speeds.

Due to the landscape and terrain away from the sea, there are many sports and activities available on the Costa de la Luz. It is not unusual to see horse riders galloping along the beach or in the hills opposite, or the sound of quad bikers negotiating the rough terrain. Golf lovers will certainly not be disappointed as there are many top quality golf courses to choose from, the most famous of which is the Novo Sancti Petri Golf Course.

Tarifa, Zahara de los Atunes, Chiclana, Novo Sancti Petri, Jerez de la Fronterea, Vejer de la Frontera, Conil de la Frontera, Cadiz, Arcos de la Frontera, Punta Umbria, Huelva, Isla Cristina, and Ayamonte.

Those are just some of the most visited locations on the Costa de la Luz but, of course there are many more holiday resorts and historical towns to visit, right up to the border with Portugal.

Because of the volume of flights many people still use Malaga Airport, although Gibraltar Airport is a much better choice if you are lucky enough to be flying from one of the few UK airports that serve it.

Jerez has a small airport so that is another choice, as is Seville Airport. If you are staying further up the Costa de la Luz near Portugal then Faro is also an option as it is not too far across the border.
