Brief history of Blanes
The area of Blanes has a lot of history attached to it, long before it was ever considered a holiday resort. It is believed that some of this history even dates back to prehistoric times.

Originally at around 218BC, the area was known as Blanda and was actually occupied by the Romans. After the fall of the Roman Empire in Spain the town, like many in Spain went through a period of Moorish occupation.

At the beginning of the 20th century the docks were opened and this ultimately led to the growth of the economy and the transformation into the Blanes we know today.
