Thinking of heading to Spain for your summer holiday in 2016? Well ABTA have just conducted a survey and they have concluded that both Spain and Portugal are going to have bumper years this year.

It is not surprising as destinations like Egypt and Tunisia are off the cards for many holiday makers for the time being. Early figures obtained by ABTA indicate that there is already an overall increase year on year of 6% for overseas holidays booked (to end of January 2016). Spain is massively up year on year by 27%.

With the pound still relatively strong against the euro and the lower cost of living in Spain on items like food and alcohol, it seems to be driving more people to choose Spain as their location this year.

It is not just travelers from the UK heading to Spain in 2016. Other trade organisations across Scandinavia and the Netherlands are also suggesting that many people will be choosing one of the Costas for their summer break as well.

The Costa del Sol still remains a firm favourite with its great beaches, choice of quality hotels and things to do both during the day and at night. The Costa Blanca is also up there for many of the same reasons and some people are also venturing to some of the other Costas like the Costa de la Luz on the Atlantic coast.

Wherever you are considering in Spain for your summer holiday this year we would recommend that you book early so you get a good choice of accommodation and flights.

Don’t forget there are lots of property rentals available as well as hotels, depending on the type of holiday you want.

Types of holidays range from beach to golf, from activity to retreats.
